1. 22 Jun 2007 – Oxbridge Letter Writing Competition 2007 launched

The society is pleased to announce the revival of the tradition ofthe Letter Writing Competition which was last held in 2003. Invitations have been sent on 22 Jun 2007 to Junior Colleges andequivalents in Singapore.

The objectives of the competition are to promote social awareness, active citizenship and good writing among pre-university students in Singapore.

Each entry shall be in the form of a letter on a matter of public interest, addressed to an appropriate person of power or influence in Singapore (such as a public official, a corporate chief or the leader of a civil society organization).

Each school may submit up to 10 entries. The Closing Date of the competition is Mon 13 Aug 2007. Cash Prizes will be awarded to the best 3 entries. Other entries may be selected for special mention if deemed worthy by the Panel of Judges.

2. Sat 14 July 2007 – Junior Pyramid – The NexGen Forum 2007

The Junior Pyramid is organising a full day event featuring a number of distinguished speakers from Singapore and Malaysia. (Luncheon and Refreshments included). A limited number of seats have been reserved for Oxbridge society members to attend the forum as invited participants. While there is no age limit for the forum, the age limit for ordinary members of the Junior Pyramid is 45 years of age, so it is expected that many of the participants would be 45 years of age and below.

Oxbridge society members who wish to register for this event should email to events@… by 12 noon Wed 11th July 2007 with “NEXGEN” as the subject header. The content of your email should include your Name, Organisation, Position, Address, Tel/Fax and Email address as these are required by the organisers. The reserved seats will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis.

Payments of membership application fees and annual subscriptions may be made to the society via cheque or internet banking.

For cheque payment, please make your cheque payable to “The Oxford and Cambridge Society of Singapore” and write your Name, Purpose of Payment and Contact Number at the back of the cheque.
